Cabanas is in an area of natural beauty. The whole seafront / coastline from west of Tavira down to the spanish border (Monte Gorde) is a designated area of natural beauty within the Ria Formosa natural park. This is excellent for long walks on beautiful sand, but not for small children. Cabanas beach is a 2 minute ferry ride across the estuary - €1 return, children under 10 are free! The beach has beautiful sand, sunbeds, parasols, great swimming, proper toilet facilities, drink/snack facilities.

Getting here from the UK is generally really easy as most of the low cost carriers fly regularly from various UK airports into Faro which is the nearest airport at just 35Km away (takes about 30min). However there are also excellent road links to the rest of the Algarve and Portugal, so Lisbon or even Seville are not too far away!

Car hire is easily arranged at the airport - although you will get better deals if you book online before you go!
